Ambulance Services
If you will have difficulties getting to or from the hospital due to a specific medical condition i.e. chronic physical incapacity, mental incapacity, incapacitation by acute illness or requirement for a nurse escort, the department you have your appointment with will make arrangements for you to be transported to and from the hospital. This should happen automatically however for further information speak to the department you are attending.
The hospital has no responsibility to provide transport to or from the hospital for purely social reasons, however it will meet the costs of such transport for patients who qualify under the terms of the Hospital Travel Costs Scheme (HTCS). Find out if you qualify on the Department of Health website (opens in a new window), or if you have further queries contact the General Office at the hospital you are attending.
